STORIES and BULLETIN POSTINGS Teens Busted at Party in Boy's Football Team Locker Room - I'm not sure who thought this was a good idea, but 38 teens were arrested at North Bergen High School in New Jersey when police got a tip that students were holding a party in the supposedly locked boy's locker room at 10 o'clock Wednesday night. Members of the football team who were caught will miss two preseason scrimmages, while several cheerleaders involved will miss the school's first home game. Non-athletes will just be caned in front of the entire student body at the next school assembly. (Okay, I made that last part up, but it would be fun see the looks on their faces as you marched them into the gym.)

Justice - USA Today's Mark Shaw has his own opinions as to
what went wrong with the prosecutions case. Victim's Lawyer for Civil Case Says Kobe Prosecutors to Drop Case - In a stunning move Wednesday, prosecutors in the Kobe Bryant rape case will ask a judge drop the rape charge against the basketball player, "with prejudice," meaning prosecutors could not resurrect the case in the future. The attorney, Lin Wood, said the civil suit will continue. The report comes on the heels of a defense motion to dismiss the case on the grounds that the prosecutor refused to turn over a report from a forensics expert that could suggest Bryant is innocent. Honor Student Suspended for Streaking HS Football Game . . . and Mom's a Teacher - Principal Robert Smith at Soddy-Daisy High School in Tennessee called the young streaker a "a good kid" and an honor student but will decided to suspend the boy to send a message to others who might consider a similar stunt in the future. Mr. Smith feels the incident amounted to indecent exposure and put local police in the picture as well as putting county school staff on the spot. He said, "He ran right through the band. There were young girls who felt the wind when he passed by. There were old ladies in the stands who saw it." Smells Like Teen Spirit? HS Football Players Booted for Urinating and Defecating on Freshman Uniforms and Equipment - Can you blame some kids for getting a little creative? We've all grown tired of the reports of high school football players beating new players and even occasionally sexually assaulting them. It's old and busted. But a group of varsity football players for Taunton High School in Massachusetts tried to do something a little different and got punished for it: apparently, they decided to urinate and defecate on the uniforms and equipment of freshmen players. And, while that kind of creativity might be celebrated in college or the pros, at the high school level it's apparently frowned upon. As a result, School Superintendent Donald L. Cleary said that football practices have been canceled until further notice and several players are off the team and out of school. They may be able to avoid being charged under the school's hazing policy since there was no physical contact between the players and their victims, but because some of the football equipment--owned by the school--had to be thrown out, the boys could face criminal charges. (Thanks to Dale for the link!) Bad Blood Turns Into Broken Jaws - What is it with HS football players this week? Are they trying to shove well deserving pro and college athletes off this page? One group out of Pennsylvania is doing their part by beating the crap out of their rivals in a parking lot brawl. Two Central Bucks West football players suffered broken jaws and two other school students were badly beaten in a brawl with North Penn High School football players back in July. Apparently, the teams have been feuding (insert banjo music here) since a summer league scrimmage in June. There was a small fight between several players on July 19 and a "return bout" was scheduled for the night of July 22 but it was called off. Instead, carloads of current and former North Penn students (carrying an estimated 50 to 70 boys) headed confronted about a dozen CB West students hanging out in the student parking lot. According to one witness, "It was kind of ugly. No one (from West) had a chance. They were surrounded and beaten." (Thanks to Dale for the link!)

Contest Between HS Cheerleaders Turns Into Brawl - The high
school football season has barely begun in most parts of the country
and BadJocks is already reporting its second eating contest
brawl! Regular readers will remember the incident just two weeks
ago involving rival Salt Lake City football teams following a Subway
sandwich eating contest.
That one took
place on live TV. The latest brawl involves two cheerleading
squads from two San Antonito high schools, Churchill and Clark. The
violence begins just after the Churchill cheerleaders were named the
winner of this year's competition, which kicks off festivities for
the Gucci Bowl (Gucci Bowl? WTF?) between the schools. Almost
immediately, food and cups start flying across the table and then
words were exchanged by chest thumping males. One young stud climbs
on top of the table before employees from Double Dave's Pizza try to
step in to quiet things down. Soon the cops show up and, in a move
that's sure to make them popular with the kids, officers slam a
rather large young man to the ground after he tussled with them. Of
course, they later let him go (after putting a nice gash in his
head) but I'm sure his parents will be asking some questions of the
department soon.

17-Year-Old Girl Accuses BYU Football Players of Rape - The police have finished their investigation, but remain tight-lipped regarding an accusation from a 17-year-old that she was raped three weeks ago by several Brigham Young University football players she met at the mall. According to police, the girl claims the as-yet-unnamed players took her back to their apartment and "goaded her into watching pornography" while guzzling vodka until she was drunk. As much fun as that combination sounds, at one point she decided to excuse herself to a bedroom, where she may have passed out . . . only to awake to three to four men having their way with her over the next 20 to 30 minutes. Updates soon. Naked UK Football Players Update: "We're Big Faqs ... Come Up Here So We Can Have a Big Orgy!" - Yesterday we reported that two current and one former member of the University of Kentucky football team were being investigated for an indecent exposure incident, primarily fullback Joe Razzano who cops caught naked on a couch on the front porch. (See original story below) Now, more details have emerged, including the ages of the two "juvenile" victims. According to the police report all three men were naked on their front porch about 9:15 pm on June 11, when the other two players, Eric Klope and Casey Shumate made "sexual comments" to a 10-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy who happened to be riding by on their bikes. The three allegedly came out of the bushes and told the kids, "We are big faqs ... come up here so we can have a big orgy." When that old line didn't work, they also reportedly told the kids to "show some respect for UK football players." Not surprisingly, the boys immediately ran home and told their parents and shortly thereafter Razzano was found on the porch--still naked--by Lexington police. No drunks or alcohol were involved in the incident according to reports . . . just good old fashioned stupidity. UK spokesman Tony Neely said that no decision on any disciplinary action would be made "until the full scope of the matter is understood." From Our "What Were You Thinking?" Files: NHL Players Arrested for Making Death Threats - Two National Hockey League players, Trevor Daley of the Dallas Stars and Luke Sellars of the Atlanta Thrasher, were released on bail on following an "encounter" at a Toronto nightclub where the boys where charged with uttering death threats. As a result of an incident involving the club's doorman, the due were also prohibited from consuming or possessing alcohol, must stay out of the city's entertainment district, can't talk to each other, the doorman, and for some reason, not associate with members of the Hells Angels biker gang. I think that's just standard language in most Canadian arraignments. That, and no spitting on the sidewalk. Olympic Spirit? The Olympic torch might be out for another four years, but that didn't stop an American volleyball player from "getting torched" before he left town and burning a few international bridges while he was at it. Clayton Stanley, 26, was arrested and charged with hitting a pregnant woman during a scuffle in Athens. got into a scuffle with a motorcyclist early this morning in a central square and during the argument he allegedly hit the driver's wife who is eight months pregnant! Cops Find Kentucky Football Player Sitting Naked on Couch on Front Porch - Indecent exposure charges and college football players go together pretty often, so it wasn't unusual for us to read that two present, and one former player, for the University of Kentucky were arrested on those charges this summer. What DOES surprise us in the stupid story that one of them tried to tell officers when he was caught. But let's back up for a second: on June 11, Lexington police were called by several juvenile witnesses about three men exposing themselves on the 400 block of Oldham Avenue. The juveniles claimed the men "invited them in for an orgy," and told them to "show some respect for UK football players." When the cops arrived, they saw Joe Razzano--rated the nation's seventh-best prep fullback by ESPN.com in 2003--sitting naked on a couch on the front porch. When he saw police, Razzano ran into the house and put clothes on and upon returning told them that "he had been inside the house nude when his father called, and he went out on the porch to talk to him." Makes perfect sense to me! I'm just glad school wasn't in session or he may have accidentally walked to class that way. Razzano has since left the team, but two other players, Casey Shumate and Eric Klope were also cited. Razzano's player profile is still up on the Wildcats football website. HS Cheerleading Hazing Horror - Details are still sketchy, but at least five students from Country Day High School in Savannah, GA have been expelled after what school officials are calling an "off-campus" hazing incident involving cheerleaders. According to several parents who contacted the local newspaper, the hazing consisted of "humiliation and physical contact" among the girls. Pillow fights in their underwear during a sleepover was not specifically mentioned in the police report, but we can only image it went that far. (Thanks to Dale for the link!) Cops Use Stun Gun on HS Soccer Player After Game Brawl, Find Out Later He Wasn't Involved - This story is not actually a case of mistaken identity, but maybe more along the lines of "hanging out with the wrong people." Police in Pawtucket, RI were called after a fight broke out during a soccer game and after the victim told them he wanted to press charges, the cops gave chase to three players who had been seen leaving the field as they arrived. When they caught up with the boys on bikes later, they tried to run and one, Alcides Rosa, 18 ended up getting a ride in a squad car. He didn't car for the free ride and caused so much trouble in the back seat that the cop had to stop the car and stun gun the kid! Once they got to the police station though, it turned out that another boy had actually punched the soccer player. Oops. #178! Coach charged with having a relationship going back several years with HS girl. According to the report, coach Bill O'Leary actually started seeing her in middle school, then transferred to a job at the high school when she did. O'Leary, of Manasquan, NY, has been suspended from his teaching job at Shore Regional High School. New World Record? Australian fan arrested for assaulting NINE umpires after match. He followed them to their changing room and claimed they were all treating his favorite team unfairly then started punching them one at a time. Dumb and Dumber: Pair Kidnap HS Cheerleader Over $3000 Drug Debt - Wait until you hear this one! Jose Valencia apparently had an unpaid drug debt to Nolen J. Holzapfel and Francis G. Leach but had so far refused to pay. So, what do Holzapfel and Leach do? Kidnap Valencia's little sister--high school cheerleader Karina Rincon--while she was sleeping in her Fitchburg, MA home. Valencia immediately called police, but was initially reluctant to give them the full story, but eventually told cops he owed the men $3,000 for drugs. Holzapfel and Leach were arrested a few hours later, and Rincon was returned safely. Kobe Bryant's Marketing Power Threatened - If he's convicted of sexual assault, he'll never get another endorsement deal.
